From 1 July 2016 a new learning and teaching institute will be established, with $28 million in funding, to promote excellence in teaching and learning.
The new institute will foster deep sector engagement by building on key principles that have been established through the work of the Office for Learning and Teaching and its predecessors and internationally equivalent bodies. These include independent and rigorous evaluations, strong accountability and peer review for awards, grants and fellowships, and fostering collaboration between universities and other higher education providers.
From 21 July 2015 Professor Ross Milbourne, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology Sydney, will lead a series of roundtable discussions with the higher education sector on the establishment of the new institute.
The department invited interested parties to provide written submissions ahead of the roundtable discussions.
